Hello and Welcome!

Hello and welcome! My name is Robert Firth and I am a computer science major at Louisiana State University. I work for Volt Information Services as a Microsoft Student Partner on campus as well as for the LSU Earth Scan Laboratory, a satellite imagery receiving lab that uses almost exclusively Linux.

I am an experienced programmer and familiar with many different programming languages. This website was written mainly using Python and Django (more on that later), but I am also familiar with Java, C++, C#, SQL, HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, Scheme… and other useful languages. I do web hosting and website design, so if you need a website built for your business, give me a call! I offer great rates.

Although this site focuses on Microsoft technologies, I am reasonably experienced with Linux and other open source technologies. For instance, this website is served using Apache server, mod_wsgi, and Django. I stuck with Windows Server 2008. Still, if I can find a reasonable way to host Django on IIS, I will. No hard feelings, Apache.

I recently switched my web hosting over from Office Live (a great service, btw) to a dedicated server managed by myself. The location and internet connection was donated courtesy Commercial Liquidators of Baton Rouge in exchange for hosting their site on the same server. Content from the old website is still being ported over to the new site. In addition, I plan to expand this site considerably and add much more new content. Look for new content in the coming weeks.

Thank you for visiting!
Robert Firth
